Capalex at Cleator Moor invests £500,000 to help with expansion

Specialist manufacturing company plans further growth under £500,000 investment.

Capalex, which employs over 50 people in West Cumbria, is further strengthening its manufacturing capacity and capabilities at its Cleator Moor site.

Having already invested in robotic technology, Capalex is adding new specialized machines to its site this month, from where it exports worldwide, particularly to Europe, the United States and South East Asia, as well as to all over the UK.

A Unique Capalex Aluminum Extrusion Manufacturing Service Serves Many Industries.

Richard Owen, Managing Director of Capalex, said: “This investment and our continued commitment to improving our processes helps us maintain our leadership position in our industry and is good news not only for Capalex, but also for Cleator Moor and the community at large.

“The vast majority of people who work at Capalex live in the immediate area, many have worked with us for a long time and have developed their skills here and helped the business move forward with their proactive problem solving approach.

“Our clients range from very small engineering companies and start-ups to some of the largest multinationals, covering all market sectors.

“We offer a wider range of alloys and more flexibility on profile design, tolerances, quantities and lead times than most larger scale commercial extrusion companies.

“This can be particularly useful for designers developing new products and for industries where flexible lower quantities, better tolerances and fast, responsive deliveries are paramount.”

Once the new equipment arrives, Capalex is planning a number of environmental improvements to its site, including the creation of a wildflower meadow.

The wider redevelopment of the Leconfield site is part of the West Cumbria regeneration program being implemented by iSH, the industrial solutions centre.

John Maddison, Managing Director of iSH, said: “What Richard and the team at Capalex are delivering through innovation and investment, as well as environmental improvements, and all the positive impacts that has on the wider community, including jobs and opportunities, is great to see.

“There are so many businesses in West Cumbria providing pioneering solutions not just across the UK but all over the world.

“That’s what makes iSH so excited that by working collaboratively and joining the dots, we can accomplish even more together.

“These are exciting times for the region.”
